Louisiana Pain Specialists and Boston Scientific Pain Management Summit

Louisiana Pain Specialists and Boston Scientific Pain Management Summit

At Louisiana Pain Specialists, our providers are passionate about teaching. We believe that continued education is a crucial part of advancing medicine and technology. In May, Dr. Suneil “Neil” Jolly was part of a team of physicians that led breakout sessions at the Boston Scientific South Area Alpha Summit. This Summit was well attended by some of the best interventional pain physicians in the South Area, and it was the first in-person South Summit that Boston Scientific has hosted since the pandemic began!

The day was split into a series of 3 breakouts. Dr. Idan Cowan of Austin, TX led a breakout on Boston Scientific’s comprehensive pain management portfolio as it relates to WaveWriter Alpha access to MRI and Hardware, Radio Frequency Ablation, and Vertiflex. Dr. Brian Bruel of Houston, TX and our own Dr. Suneil “Neil” Jolly led a breakout regarding Boston Scientific’s new SCS Mechanism Of Action, FAST™, and how it relates to patient’s access to personalized therapy with WaveWriter Alpha. Finally, Dr. Kenneth Choi of Denison, TX led a breakout on COGNITA, combing through Boston Scientific’s extensive digital solutions that address the needs of both practices and their patients. In these breakout sessions, the leading physicians were able to share their knowledge and experience regarding the new WaveWriter Alpha launch as well as open table discussion with attending physicians.

In Dr. Suneil “Neil” Jolly and Dr. Bruel’s breakout, SCS Mechanism Of Action FAST™ and how it relates to patient’s access to personalized therapy with WaveWriter Alpha, physicians were educated on how FAST™ and its new and distinct MOA is used to provide immediate and profound paresthesia-free pain relief. This new SCS MOA is called surround inhibition and acts via the dorsal columns of the spinal cord. It uses precise targeting of the desired pain areas and proper neural dosing to provide impressive pain relief very quickly for patients. Dr. Jolly and Dr. Bruen discussed how FAST™ along with the many other waveform options that Boston Scientific can offer provides the best opportunity for neuropathic pain relief in patients using SCS due to the simple fact that the therapy can be highly personalized for each individual.

Boston Scientific’s goal is to make pain management accessible to patients in need, as well as partner with physicians to help drive successful pain management therapies. Dr. Jolly loved having the opportunity to lead education for interventional pain physicians in the South. Louisiana Pain Specialists takes pride in our physicians’ desires to lead and learn in order to provide the best care for our patients.
